Service overview
Kitchen Installations in Southend-on-Sea: what's involved.
What it is
A kitchen installation covers far more than hanging cabinets. Old units are removed, plumbing and waste are moved to suit the new layout, walls are made good, flooring goes down, units and worktops are fitted, appliances are connected and the room is decorated. PCR manages the whole sequence so the trades arrive in the right order.
Who it's for
Homeowners who have chosen, or are choosing, a new kitchen and want it installed by someone who'll take responsibility for the full result, not just the carcasses. It also suits people who bought a supply-only kitchen and need an installer to handle everything around it.
When you need it
When doors and worktops are worn, the layout doesn't work, storage is short, or you're renovating a wider area and want the kitchen done as part of it. It's often best tackled alongside flooring and decorating to avoid redoing work later.
Why professional help matters
Kitchens rely on accurate levels, sound walls, correct plumbing and certified electrics. A worktop that's out by a few millimetres, a waste pipe without proper fall, or a socket in the wrong place can spoil an expensive kitchen. Coordinated, checked work prevents that.
The cost of waiting
What happens if it's left, or done badly.
Living with a failing kitchen costs more than it seems. Leaks under sinks swell chipboard and ruin base units, worn worktops harbour bacteria, and poor layouts waste time every single day. Waiting usually means more damage to strip out when you finally replace it.
Risks that escalate
- Water damage from leaking sinks, dishwashers and washing machines
- Swollen carcasses and blown worktop edges
- Unsafe or overloaded electrics behind appliances
- Uneven floors leaving doors and drawers misaligned
- Extra cost when a rushed install has to be adjusted or refitted
Common mistakes we see
- Ordering a kitchen before checking measurements and services on site
- Leaving flooring and decorating until after units are fitted
- Using a fitter who only does cabinets and leaves the rest to you
- Ignoring uneven walls and floors that throw everything out of line
- Choosing the cheapest install for the most-used room in the house

In detail
Materials, methods and the work we cover.
We install kitchens of all styles and budgets. Here's what that typically involves.
How we do it
After strip-out, walls are checked and made good and floors levelled. Units are set out from accurate datum lines so worktops sit true. Waste runs are given correct fall, water supplies are fitted with isolation valves, and appliances are connected and tested. Electrical work needing certification is carried out by qualified electricians, and gas hob or cooker connections by Gas Safe registered engineers arranged by PCR.
Materials we work with
- Rigid and flat-pack cabinet carcasses
- Laminate, solid wood and stone-effect worktops
- Shaker, slab and handleless door styles
- Undermount, inset and ceramic sinks with mixer taps
- Integrated and freestanding appliances
- Splashbacks, upstands and wall tiling
Types of kitchen installations
- Full kitchen replacement
- Installation of supply-only kitchens
- Layout changes and kitchen islands
- Worktop and door replacement
- Kitchen refurbishments as part of wider renovations
Situations we're called for
- Worn or damaged kitchens
- Open-plan conversions
- New homeowners updating a property
- Rental properties needing a durable refit
- Kitchens left half-finished by another installer
Before you order your kitchen
Measurements taken off a plan or estimated by a showroom are a common source of problems: walls are rarely square, floors are rarely level, and boxing or pipework takes up space. Having Jordan survey the room before you finalise the order means unit sizes, filler panels and appliance positions are checked against the real space, and plumbing or electrical changes are identified early.
Thinking about layout and services
Sinks are simplest to keep near an outside wall where the waste can run out with good fall. Hobs and ovens need the right electrical supply, and gas appliances need a Gas Safe registered engineer, which PCR arranges. Islands look great but need thought about power, and sometimes plumbing. We plan these elements with you so the finished kitchen works day to day, not just in a brochure.
Keeping disruption down
A kitchen is the hardest room to lose. We sequence strip-out, services, plastering, fitting and decorating so trades follow each other without gaps, and we keep the rest of your home clean and protected. Customers describe Jordan as tidy and reliable, and that matters most when you're living around the work.
Who carries out the work
PCR is owner-led. Jordan Thomas manages every project personally and works on site, supported by a trusted network of electricians, plasterers, carpenters, decorators and tilers chosen to suit each job. Before founding the company, Jordan spent around nine years in mechanical engineering, specialising in plumbing and heating, and progressed into managing projects. That background shapes how work is planned: services first, surfaces prepared properly, and each stage checked before the next begins.

How much does a kitchen installation cost?
It depends on the layout, the kitchen you choose and what needs moving. We don't publish 'from' prices; you'll get a fixed quotation with the scope clearly set out after a site visit.
How long will I be without a kitchen?
That depends on the size and complexity of the job. Jordan will explain the programme at the site visit and plan the work to keep disruption as short as possible.
Can you fit a kitchen I've bought myself?
Yes. We install supply-only kitchens and handle everything around them, from plumbing and flooring to decorating.
Do you handle electrics and gas?
Electrical work needing certification is carried out by qualified electricians, and gas work by Gas Safe registered engineers, both arranged by PCR so you still deal with one company.
Can you move the sink or change the layout?
Usually, yes. We check waste routes and supplies at the survey and include any changes in your quote.
How quickly will I get a quote?
Usually within 2–3 working days of the site visit. Larger or more complex projects can take slightly longer because we price every element properly rather than guessing.
Are you insured?
Yes. PCR holds public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
Do you cover my area for kitchen installations?
We're based in Southend-on-Sea and work across Essex, including Shoeburyness, Thorpe Bay, Great Wakering, Westcliff-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Rochford, Hockley, Rayleigh, Benfleet, Canvey Island and Basildon. If you're nearby but not listed, call and ask.
